Reevaluation of and Prospects for Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Evaluation
Yanbao, Li; Xiaomei, Li; Qiongfei, Qu
Chinese Education and Society, v42 n1 p25-32 Jan-Feb 2009
Begun in 2003, the National Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Evaluation, conducted in regular universities every five years, has surveyed the significance of evaluation and index scheme improvement at 171 higher education institutions. The launch in January 2007 of the national project of Undergraduate Teaching Quality and Teaching Reform in Higher Education Institutions (Gaodeng xuexiao benke jiaoxue zhiliang yu jiaoxue gaige gongcheng) has ushered in the era when evaluation is increasingly integrated into practice, and higher education globally directs its focus on quality education as its objective. It is of great necessity to develop a comprehensive and in-depth understanding and reflection of the Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Evaluation from an international perspective. The authors focus in this article on five aspects of the process, providing in-depth consideration of what they have learned for the next round of undergraduate teaching evaluation.
