Boutot, E. Amanda
Intervention in School and Clinic, v44 n5 p276-281 2009
Many studies have examined ways to improve social functioning of students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Some common strategies include: (1) social stories strategy; (2) social scripts strategy; (3) power card strategy; (4) cognitive behavioral modification; and (5) the "I Will" card strategy. The "I Will" card strategy utilizes components of several well-known and useful strategies that include providing visuals (social stories), scripts, self-management (CBM), and portable cards (power cards). This article presents the five planning steps involved in the "I Will" card strategy. (Contains 1 table and 1 figure.)
