Collage as a Mirror of Society
Bae, Jaehan
SchoolArts: The Art Education Magazine for Teachers, v108 n8 p34-35 Apr 2009
A thematic approach toward teaching art is integral because it serves as art for life's sake. Ecology of place, which is a main theme, defines relationships between plants, animals, people, and their environment. Sub-themes include recycling, pollution, acid rain, and global warming. As collage is an excellent artistic avenue for visual communication, students are able to actively investigate either local or global ecological issues through collage. In this article, the author describes how his students created collages using the theme of ecology of place. (Contains 2 resources and 2 online resources.)
