Preservice Teachers Develop an Understanding of Diversity Issues through Multicultural Literature

This article explores issues of multicultural education and diversity. The authors present a preservice teacher education program that uses multicultural literature to prepare young teachers to better serve their students. The authors discuss the curriculum design of the program to help preservice teachers become more sensitive to the issues of diversity. They also include a list of suggested literature to aid in other multicultural, preservice education programs.
