Xinghua, Jin
Chinese Education and Society, v41 n6 p10-14 Nov-Dec 2008
This article presents a speech delivered at the International Symposium on Minority Languages held in Beijing. In this article, Jin Xinghua conducts frank and sincere exchanges of opinions together with participating experts and scholars on the question of building a multilingual and harmonious sociolinguistic life. He hopes that experts and scholars will take this meeting as an opportunity to do some meticulous studies, link theory with practice, pay more attention to China's minority language work, pay more attention to applied studies of China's minority languages, do some strategic and forward-looking thinking about major issues in China's minority language work, and serve as advisors for the state's construction of a multilingual and harmonious sociolinguistic life.
