Crawford, Philip Charles
Knowledge Quest, v35 n5 p58-61 May-Jun 2007
In an era in which cartoon animation has experienced a renaissance of popularity with American audiences ranging from full-length animated motion pictures to successful television series and popular Japanese anime, it is important to remember the genre's origins and preserve those enduring examples of early comics and animation for each new generation. This article features the works of artist Winsor McCay. The author expresses gratitude on the commendable efforts of several publishers who introduce a comprehensive range of McCay's work to a new generation of readers, both young and old.
