The Dash
Buck, Marilyn
Quest, v60 n4 p443-451 Nov 2008
Important events in our lives have a beginning and ending date with a dash in between. What is important is not the dates on either end but what the dash represents. The "dashes" of Amy Morris Homans and Barbara E. Forker are examined. Each touched the lives of their students and the profession that was their lives. Homans understood the importance of professional organizations and worked toward the organization of such groups. Forker was a major leader in several professional groups. Organizations also have dashes, and NAKPEHE is challenged to have an influence on the future of the field. Individuals are also challenged to use their dashes to make a difference in the people and organizations with whom they are involved. (Contains 2 tables.)
