Global Awareness and Gifted Children: Its Joy and History
Roeper, Annemarie
Roeper Review, v30 n1 p8-10 Jan 2008
In this article, the author describes her experience as an educational consultant specializing in the educational needs of gifted and creative children. Gifted children are acutely aware of the world around them. One of the characteristics of these gifted children is the ongoing questioning of how and why they are living on this earth. They react strongly when their need for truthful global awareness is thwarted. Gifted children experience the enormous complexity of the world and add to this complexity by inventing and creating their own world. Here, she writes about the growth and development of the concept of global awareness and gifted children.
