CASE in Point: Issues and Challenges in Educating English Language Learners with Disabilities
Casey, Ann
Journal of Special Education Leadership, v19 n1 p52-55 Apr 2006
The topic of how best to serve English language learners (ELLs) with disabilities is an important one. The total population of ELLs, including those with disabilities, is rapidly increasing in schools. ELLs with disabilities can be found in rural, suburban, and urban districts. Some of the challenges of appropriately instructing these students may be common across all of these types of districts. This article addresses several challenges that special educators in the author's large urban district have faced, and raises some issues for further discussion in the field.
