This article discusses the part-time/Internet-based Master of Public Health (MPH) program at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHSPH). The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health was the first school of public health in the United States to offer a Master of Public Health program via the Internet. The JHSPH MPH Program prepares students to face existing and new public health challenges through multidisciplinary approaches that apply current scientific knowledge, common sense, and teamwork to health problems. Today, the Bloomberg School's part-time/Internet-based MPH remains an exemplar in preparing students to face ever-growing public health challenges around the world. The Program provides flexibility in access, high quality content, a sophisticated integration of learning technologies, and pedagogical underpinnings in an accredited curriculum. How elements of quality have evolved in the Program, what today's challenges are, and what strategies are considered in overcoming them, describe how the School educates research scientists and health professionals around the globe in the defense of human life. Here, the authors discuss the history of the MPH program as well as the evaluation and accreditation of the program.
