TechTrends: Linking Research and Practice to Improve Learning, v52 n2 p14-17 Apr 2008
This article aims to help teachers looking for an exciting major unit designed to help their students meet educational standards in these areas: (1) library research skills, (2) preparing and writing a standard, (3) research paper, in this case on a significant figure in world history, (4) writing a creative story, including adaptation of non-fiction material, (5) writing a docudrama teleplay, complete with character-appropriate dialog, (6) working as part of a team on a collaborative project, in this case producing a video based on a student written docudrama teleplay. The authors relate that they successfully included this unit in their 9th grade Gifted and Talented curriculum, and they feels that it could also be adapted into Regular Education curriculum, grades 6 through 12.
