IT Trends for Community Colleges
Mooney, Carolyn
Chronicle of Higher Education, v54 n30 pB9 Apr 2008
Mark David Milliron, founder and chief executive of Catalyze Learning International, believes that all types of educational institutions--from elementary schools to universities--should be having conversations about the way they use information technology. In particular, Milliron believes technology will play a crucial role at community colleges for a number of reasons. First, such colleges must serve growing numbers of students who have vastly different ability levels, and who are at different stages of their lives and educational careers. Second, as community colleges form more partnerships with schools and universities alike, they function as a "nexus" of learning. In this article, the author presents trends Milliron thinks will be increasingly evident at two-year institutions.
