Helping Students Develop Vision and Voice: The Role Creativity Plays
Welkener, Michele M.
About Campus, v8 n6 p12-17 Jan-Feb 2004
Most college and university mission statements identify creativity as an important institutional commitment, and most educators would agree that the ideal student is complex and creative. Yet how do students view creativity and what impact might those views have on their ability to accomplish what educators hope for them? In this article, the author draws on students' definitions of creativity and on how they view their propensity for creativity and explore the developmental complexities that underlie creativity to inform educators on how they might go about fulfilling this mission.
