Reaching Out in Retirement
Ghezzi, Patti
School Administrator, v64 n11 p17-18 Dec 2007
This article reports that across the country, retired superintendents are finding fulfillment as mentors, either formally or informally, spontaneously or planned. Some are paid, but most are volunteers who remember their first year running a school district and want to ease the transition for others. Some want to focus on leadership development. Others are willing to chew over the latest media frenzy, personnel problem or board member dispute. Retired superintendents say the last thing they want to do is take charge of a situation. They just want to help.
