Using Profile Projects to Pull Together Concepts
Krueger, Jerome A.; Noyd, Robert K.
American Biology Teacher, v70 n1 p1-5 Jan 2008
The Profile Project promotes intellectual curiosity, connects concepts, and enhances student visual and information literacy skills. During the past 10 years, we have used the Profile Project as a semester-long student project in a number of undergraduate biology courses, where students produce a one-page profile of an organism. We have guided students to create profiles on fossils, dinosaurs, plants, microorganisms, cells, viruses, animals, molecules, and diseases. The Profile Project provides considerable benefits for the instructor and student by making learning useful and powerful. (Contains 4 figures.)
