Get Involved in Setting Your District's Goals
Bryant, Anne L.
Teaching Music, v15 n3 p18 Dec 2007
About eight years ago, the National School Boards Association, along with local school board members, created the Key Work of School Boards, a framework of eight areas that school boards can use in their efforts to improve student achievement. The eight areas are vision, standards, assessment, accountability, alignment, climate, collaborative relationships, and continuous improvement. This framework shows what school boards should be doing in their districts--setting the vision using community standards and goals. In this article, the author presents some strategies on how one can get involved in setting the district's goal.
