Northwestern University's experience sheds light on some of the common (mis)perceptions regarding student ratings and comments in online student evaluations are discussed, along with the corresponding realities. Despite the common belief that ratings will be lower in online evaluations, at Northwestern it was found that ratings do not vary in any particular direction based on medium. Fears that response rates in the comment section will plummet when online evaluations are used, and that the comments received will be more negative, are equally unfounded. (Contains 3 figures.)
