The Opinions of College and University Administrators and Instructors on the Bologna Process

Russia is becoming a part of the Bologna Process. What are the attitudes toward this in the colleges and universities of Russia? Scientists in the laboratory of modern educational technologies of the faculty of sociology at Moscow M.V. Lomonosov State University, under the supervision of Professor V.Ia. Nechaev, doctor of sociological sciences, conducted a survey among the scientific and pedagogical community in the framework of a sociological monitoring of Russian universities' entry into the Bologna Process. One-third of the experts in the scientific and pedagogical community were officials on the different levels of administration of Russia's institutions of higher learning (rector, vice rector, dean, deputy dean, and department head); and two-thirds were representatives of the corps of professors and instructors. Half the respondents are working in the colleges and universities of the center and the northwestern part of the country, and half are working in institutions in other regions of Russia. Judging from the results of the survey, in general, Russia's scientific and educational community is ready for the Bologna Process, even though there is not yet a single unified position, since specific provisions of the Bologna Declaration are rated and interpreted in different ways.
