This article talks about the "special" support that special educators need from administrators. Special educators need the same type of support that regular teachers receive. Pairing regular and special education teachers allows special education teachers to contribute to and receive support from the other teachers in a school. Ensuring that special education teachers are included on committees and encouraged to come to social events can also help them feel less isolated. In this article, the author presents several strategies that principals can use to level the playing field.
