Q & A on Child Abuse
Kirk, Rea
Kappa Delta Pi Record, v43 n3 p128-132 Spr 2007
As an advocate for all students, educators have a legal, moral, and ethical responsibility for identifying and reporting child abuse. One of the most difficult tasks a teacher may face is also one of the most important a teacher can do. If a teacher knows what to look for and what to do, he or she can help a child heal physically and emotionally. That teacher can make it possible for a child to learn and develop and feel worthy. That teacher might even save a life. This article presents questions and answers which are meant to open the gateway to professional handling of the issue of child abuse.
