On the Results of the Unified State Examination
Kovaleva, Galina
Russian Education and Society, v47 n3 p21-40 Mar 2005
The unified state examination, which combines the final certification of school graduates and the entrance tests for enrollment in an institution of higher learning, makes it possible to evaluate the effectiveness of the education process in the schools and to determine the strong and weak points of the instruction of particular school subjects; it creates the basis for the administration of systems of education on the federal and regional levels. But already during the experimental stage its results are starting to be used to put together the information base for a system of monitoring of the quality of education. This article presents the basic results of the unified state examination for ten school subjects, as well as the conclusions that were drawn. (Contains 1 table and 1 note.)
