Sustaining Successful School Reform: An Interview With Jordan Horowitz

Inside High School Reform: Making Changes that Matter (WestEd) shares the critical lessons and compelling successes of 28 California Academic Partnership Program school reform efforts. In this interview, lead author Jordan Horowitz, WestEd's senior project director in evaluation research, recently shared some of the book's findings, and answered other questions. Some of the questions answered included the following: (1) What are some common reasons why school reform efforts fail?; (2) What does a successful curriculum mapping process looks like?; (3) What kinds of markers should lead schools to stop triage and start reinventing?; (4) What steps should schools take to gather data so they can evaluate their reforms?; (5) What are the strategic steps to creating a useful professional development program? and (6) You suggest creating a "college-going culture."
