Believing that all children should have their multiple intelligences nurtured, these authors planned and implemented a set of learning experiences that would engage each of these capacities for the children in this kindergarten classroom (Figure 1). This study of ladybugs gave children the opportunity to learn in at least eight different ways-all students had their strongest intelligences addressed at least some of the time. This cross-curricular experience also offered the children the opportunity to have their unique learning preferences addressed. Students chose their favorite learning centers and expressed their knowledge of ladybugs using the multiple intelligences: verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, bodily kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist (Gardner 1983).
