Perpetuating Core Values in Family and Consumer Sciences
Richards, Virginia
Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences, v97 n3 p8-11 Sep 2005
The American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) Code of Ethics guides members on ethical practice in specific areas, however, becoming ethical does not happen at the moment a major is declared or on graduation day. Ethical values are formed in childhood by the examples provided by parents, teachers, and other significant adults. This article illustrates the formation of ethical values by relating the stories of two historical role models: Helen LeBaron Hilton and Laura Jane Harper. Also included is the text of the AAFCS Code of Ethics.
