Teaching Special Learners: Ideas from Veteran Teachers in the Music Classroom

In this article, the author offers suggestions on how to teach special learners in the music classroom. Sections include: (1) Preservice Training; (2) Mainstreaming and Inclusion; (3) Strategies; (4) Classroom Support; and (5) The Rewards. She stresses the importance of using tactile things with them like streamers, balloons, and microphones which tend to stimulate the students and make learning about music exciting.
