Perspectives on Middle Level Student Achievement. Rethinking Student Achievement.
Arhar, Joanne M.
Middle School Journal, v35 n1 p5, 13 Sep 2003
Discusses the trend toward increased standardization in examining student learning and achievement. Maintains that the crux of middle-level curriculum reform involves a contextual notion of achievement. Asserts that working out conceptions of middle-level student learning and the work of teachers making professional judgments about what constitutes student learning in a era of standards-based reform is critical to the survival of middle-level philosophy and practice.
