Rhetoric as Professional Development and Vice Versa.
Cherwitz, Richard A.; Daniel, Sharan L.
JAC: A Journal of Composition Theory, v22 n4 p795-814 Fall 2002
Examines the inception and evolution of the Intellectual Entrepreneurship program at the University of Texas Austin. Discusses the inductive and unintended process by which the program helped the authors to rediscover rhetoric and its vital role in human inquiry and public action. Speculates about the implications of the program for rhetoric's ability to embody the ideal of a discipline of academic-public engagement. (SG)
