Is a Socially Responsible and Critical Psychology of Difference Possible?
O'Loughlin, Michael
Race, Gender & Class, v9 n4 p177-92 2002
Queries the hegemony of psychology, embodied in its power to "name, identify, classify, domesticate and contain" others, recommending the exclusion of critical interrogation of race and ethnicity from the daily discourses of psychology. Offers recommendations for setting psychology on a path toward social justice and inclusivity, thus making reparation for its historical contribution to the codification of difference and perpetuation of racial inequality.
