Top reasons for choosing a business major indicated in responses from 671 of 2,150 students surveyed included career interest, job opportunities, and fit with abilities; least influential were reputation of major, instructional quality, and parents. Rank ordering differed among majors. All majors except management information systems ranked interest in the work higher than job opportunities or earnings. (Contains 21 references.) (SK)
