Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Core Competencies for Family Nurse Practitioners.
Burman, Mary E.
Journal of Nursing Education, v42 n1 p28-34 Jan 2003
Directors of family nurse practitioner education programs (n=141) reported inclusion of some complementary/alternative medicine content (CAM), most commonly interviewing patients about CAM, critical thinking, evidence-based medicine, laws, ethics, and spiritual/cultural beliefs. Definition of CAM was medically, not holistically based. More faculty preparation for teaching about CAM was needed. (Contains 16 references.) (SK)
