Examines the effects of teachers' stereotypes towards mathematics, based upon the beliefs of their students in grades six to eight in Switzerland. Reports that mathematics was stereotyped as a male domain by teachers and students; while teachers' beliefs affected their students after controlling for achievement, interest, and self-confidence in mathematics, school grade, and track.
