Gender and Interest Processes in Response to Literary Texts: Situational and Individual Interest.
Ainley, Mary; Hillman, Kylie; Hidi, Suzanne
Learning and Instruction, v12 n4 p411-28 Aug 2002
Studied interest in literary texts among 86 tenth graders, exploring how individual and situational factors contributed to topic interest and monitoring reactions to texts. Gender was the factor most associated with topic interest, and text titles were important situational triggers. Individual interest in literature made a relatively small contribution to topic interest. (SLD)
