A Measure of Traditionalism for American Indian Children and Families: Psychometric Properties and Factor Structure.
Morris, Christopher H.; Crowley, Susan L.; Morris, Carolyn Thomas
American Indian and Alaska Native Mental Health Research, v10 n3 p33-55 2002
A study examining traditionalism as one aspect of acculturation and cultural identity interviewed 186 American Indian elementary students and parents in the Southwest. Factor analysis indicated that traditionalism is a multidimensional construct that can be measured reliably; similarities and differences were found between children and adults. Few other instruments exist to assess either traditionalism or acculturation among American Indian families. (Contains 42 references.) (TD)
