Guidance of Latino High School Students in Mathematics and Career Identity Development.

A study of 115 Latino high school students (67 percent foreign-born) examined their experience of assisted performance in mathematics and of individuation in their relationships with parents, teachers, and peers. Assisted performance was related to higher math grades for students in college-prep courses and lower math grades for those in remedial courses. Individuation was related to career identity achievement. (Contains 30 references.) (SV)
