The Melting Pot Revisited: Hispanic Density and Economic Achievement in American Metropolitan Regions.
Cavalcanti, H. B.; Schleef, Debra
Hispanic Journal of Behavioral Sciences, v23 n2 p115-35 May 2001
A study of Hispanic socioeconomic achievement in 100 mid-sized U.S. metropolitan areas found that Hispanics in areas with small Hispanic populations fared best in terms of educational attainment, employment, and income. Nevertheless, although better educated than non-Hispanics, Hispanics in areas of low Hispanic density still had lower per-capita income than non-Hispanics. (Contains 27 references.)(SV)
