Examined the personal characteristics and resources in 65 licensed family child care providers' lives that influence developmentally enhancing caregiving and professional commitment. Unique predictors to higher quality of care were higher levels of formal education and training, college coursework in early childhood education, higher psychological well-being, and higher family income. Predictors of professional commitment were helpful and supportive resources for child care and higher psychological well-being. (Author/KB)
