On the Nature of the Relationship between Processing Activity and Item Retention in Children.
Towse, John N.; Hitch, Graham J.; Hutton, Una
Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, v82 n2 p156-84 Jun 2002
Three experiments investigated forgetting when a processing task is interpolated between presentation and recall of memory items with children ages 8-17 years. Findings showed consistent effects of the duration of the task, but no effects of its difficulty or similarity to memory material, and no developmental differences in task performance. Results were explored in the context of working memory models. (JPB)
