The Imaginary Audience and Personal Fable: Factor Analyses and Concurrent Validity of the "New Look" Measures.
Goossens, Luc; Beyers, Wim; Emmen, Mieke; van Aken, Marcel A. G.
Journal of Research on Adolescence, v12 n2 p193-215 2002
Examined key components of the "New Look" at adolescent imaginary audience and personal fable constructs. Found that only the invulnerability and omnipotence subscales of the New Personal Fable Scale were highly related. Boys were found to believe more strongly in their own uniqueness, invulnerability, and omnipotence than were girls. Higher scores on the subscales were associated with lower levels of depression and loneliness. (Author)
