Medium of Instruction in Hong Kong Universities: The Mis-Match between Espoused Theory and Theory in Use.

An analysis of the language of instruction in Hong Kong universities found a mismatch between espoused theory/policy and theory in use with respect to English as the medium of instruction, English as a second language, and improvement of English standards. Student comments suggested that the discrepancies lead to declining standards because of lack of opportunities for practice. (EV)
