Queried South Asian students and parents living in England to determine how parents and teachers affected students' academic achievement. While all South Asians wished for success, there was a divergence between the experiences of South Asian Muslims and Indians (Hindus and Sikhs), largely due to economic, social capital, and knowledge differences among South Asians and ways in which religion and culture affected groups.
