Perceptions of Giftedness and Self-Concepts among Junior Secondary Students in Hong Kong.
Chan, David W.
Journal of Youth and Adolescence, v31 n4 p243-52 Aug 2002
Explored the relationships among IQ, perceptions of giftedness, and self-concepts in a sample of 116 Chinese gifted junior secondary school students in Hong Kong. Findings show that, in general, the ways students perceived their giftedness differentially affected global self-worth and specific self-concept domains. Difference concern and critical evaluation affected specific self-concepts adversely, but high parental expectation had a more positive influence. (SLD)
