Aggressive Behaviors in Social Interaction and Developmental Adaptation: A Narrative Analysis of Interpersonal Conflicts during Early Adolescence.
Xie, Hongling; Swift, Dylan J.; Cairns, Beverley D.; Cairns, Robert B.
Social Development, v11 n2 p205-24 2002
Investigated interactional properties and developmental functions of the following four types of aggressive behaviors in adolescents: social aggression, direct relational aggression, physical aggression, and verbal aggression. Found that the majority of conflict interactions involved more than a dyad, and that social aggression was an initiating behavior, whereas direct relational aggression was a responding behavior.
