The instructor of a human resource class proposed a different division of labor between teacher and students. Analysis of four critical class incidents (essay sharing, class discussion, prejudices involved in a student presentation, student objections to course methods) showed that students preferred to preserve their identity as consumers and teacher identity as manager of knowledge production.
