Facilitating First Language Development in Young Korean Children through Parent Training in Picture Book Interactions.

Eleven native-Korean-speaking, Korean-American mothers of children aged 2-4 received 1 hour of training in specific language facilitation techniques around picture-book interactions. A control group received instruction in general emergent literacy development and first language acquisition. Four weeks later, treatment-group children showed significantly increased language production and vocabulary, compared to controls. (Contains 35 references.) (SV)
