Teaching Inductive Reasoning in Primary Education.

Used a three-phase teaching procedure based on the development of metacognition to extend emphasis on inductive reasoning in primary education to Grades 3 and 4. Found that teachers could apply the programs as intended, but needed support to shift attention from reasoning product to reasoning process. Program learning effects indicated that better performance resulted from increased inductive reasoning ability. (Author/KB)
