Examines the acquisition of academic literacy by nonnative speaker graduate students who choose to study in the English medium. Explores the understanding of academic literacy by summarizing research on this issue, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the surveys, and case studies that have been conducted. Points out areas that need to be examined, and better approaches that could be utilized to enhance understanding of academic literacy. (Author/VWL)
