Family Obligations and the Transition to Working Life: The Influence of Parenthood and Family Obligations on the Transition to Employment of University Graduates.
Huldi, Claudia Spiess
Education + Training, v44 n4-5 p208-16 2002
A survey of Swiss university graduates (n=7,791) found that starting a family and involvement in childcare generally do not represent obstacles to suitable employment, except for natural science and engineering graduates. However, it is relatively rare for recent graduates with children to accept trainee positions, which could have a negative impact on their long-term careers. (Contains 16 references.) (SK)
