Quality of time expended in collegiate activities influenced by environmental perceptions was assessed for African American students attending a predominantly white university. Findings revealed that supportive relationships with administrators, faculty and peers along with vocational and practical emphasis on the environment exerted the most influence in their level of persistence and involvement in collegiate activities.
