Straying beyond the Boundaries of Belief: Maori Epistemologies inside the Curriculum.
Smith, Cherryl Waerea-I-Te-Rangi
Educational Philosophy and Theory, v32 n1 p43-51 Apr 2000
Examines issues of Maori knowledge within a university curriculum. Discusses the reframing of Maori knowledge and world views as knowable within colonizing Western epistemologies. Examines three Maori beliefs (interrelationships and animate nature of all things and accessibility of "unseen" worlds to humans) that were considered unacceptable in the Maori Studies curriculum and therefore are "coded" in academic discourse.
