Effects of Program Design on the Professional Socialization of RN-BSN Students.
Eckhardt, Jo Anne
Journal of Professional Nursing, v18 n3 p157-64 May-Jun 2002
Case studies and questionnaire responses from 59 recent registered nurse (RN) graduates identified differences in six role socialization processes (individual-collective, formal-informal, sequential-random, fixed-variable, serial-disjunctive, investiture-divestiture) in three types of programs: generic, RN-track, and second-step. In second-step programs, all six processes were on the role innovation end of the continuum. (Contains 23 references.) (SK)
